and Korea Proposes to Host 2023 Annual Meeting

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of the Republic of Korea have come to an agreement to move the venue for the second stage of the 53rd Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of ADB to Manila, where the meeting will be conducted virtually on September 17-18, 2020.  Also, Korea has proposed to host the meeting in 2023.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, the ADB and Korean government reaffirmed as their top priority the safety of participants of the meeting.

Korea’s Ministry of Economy and Finance (MOEF), having discussed with ADB and related ministries since late June, officially proposed on July 3 to host the 56th Annual Meeting in Incheon, Korea in 2023.  ADB’s Board of Directors approved at 18:00 (MNL) on July 13 to submit to the Board of Governors the proposal by Korea to host the ADB Annual Meeting in 2023, which will be considered when Governors convene virtually on September 18.
