Participants are required to hold a valid passport and visa before arrival to Korea. Except those from countries under visa waiver agreements with Korea, participants should apply for a visa at Korean diplomatic missions or consulates in their countries prior to departure.

Participants are strongly advised to apply for visa at least four (4) weeks before the Annual Meeting begins. Visitors without visa are not permitted to board a flight or enter Korea.

General Visa Issuance Process

  • Step 1   Complete registration for the 2020 ADB Annual Meeting
  • Step 2   Upon completion of registration, a confirmation letter will be issued by ADB
  • Step 3   Apply for a visa at Korean embassy or consulate

  • * Required Documents: Visa application form, Passport, Photo, Copy of confirmation of registration from ADB, Fee and required documents for respective status of stay

Visa-free Entry

Nationals from visa free countries are allowed to enter and stay in Korea for up to 30 or 90 days with the purpose of a temporary visit. If they wish to engage in profitable activities such as employment, they must apply for a visa suitable for that purpose.

For purposes of attending international convention, mutuality doctrine, national profit or other special reasons, certain countries are granted visa-free entry. They are allowed for up to 30 or 90 days of visa-free stay for tourism or temporary visit.

For Media

The following members of the media are mandatorily required to obtain a visa (Type C-1) for news coverage and other media related activities:

  • A person dispatched from a foreign newspaper, broadcasting channel, journal, and other media to cover/report news
  • A person to cover and report news under contract with foreign media
  • A person to stay for a short period of time to establish a branch office in Korea

ADB Members without Diplomatic Missions of Republic of Korea

  • Armenia: Must apply for a visa in person at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Russia
  • Bhutan & Maldives: Submit required documents and passport to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bhutan/Maldives
  • Vanuatu: Send visa application documents to the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the Independent State of Papua New Guinea by DHL
